The first album I bought with my own money was the Empire Strikes Back soundtrack. As a kid at the time, I was crazy for all the Star Wars action figures and playsets, and my mother gently steered me to something with a bit more culture — the John Williams soundtrack.
At the time, I was unhappy with it and thought I had wasted my money, but in hindsight I love it and now I own all the soundtracks and listen to them often. I never play with the action figures.
My first album was the Flashdance soundtrack, closely followed by Michael Jackson’s Thriller.
