What Do You Like That Is Underappreciated?

I’m always on the lookout for something cool that is under the radar. Is there something you would recommend — a song, a book, a blog, a podcast — that you think is underappreciated?

Share why if you wish.

  1. Songs and spoken word recordings by Tom Waits are underappreciated.

Picture in a Frame is a perfect love song. Word choices in Come on Down to the House … amazing. The juxtaposition of beauty and sadness in his reading of Charles Bukowski’s poem Nirvana makes me feel like I am sitting in the diner or getting on the bus. Or the creativity in his words from Flower’s Grave — “no one puts flowers on a flower’s grave” — how does he think of these songs and words!

I eagerly await each new recording, and I love almost weekly digging deeply in his decades-long catalog.
