I have a two-part answer:
1) Of course not.
Do I believe there is a person who lives at the North Pole, makes lots of toys with a team of elves, and flies around the world in one night delivering them? Of course not. Even as a kid I knew that was ridiculous.
2) Of course.
Do I believe there is a fictional character that permeates popular culture, particularly at this time of year? How could I not? Every other TV commercial in December shows Santa Claus. There are dozens — no, hundreds! maybe thousands! — of movies featuring Santa or his children or his elves and/or reindeer. After (possibly?) Jesus, there is no other individual more associated with Christmas than Santa Claus.
As long as people get gifts at Christmas, there is a Santa Claus.
