I don’t think I own any soft rock. However, I have and enjoy listening to Metallica, Living Colour, and Rammstein. I also like listening to some really dark French heavy metal.
Definitely soft rock for me. I’ve never been much of a metal fan.
I prefer my music to sound nice, and heavy metal, with power cords and aggressive lyrics, often sounds angry to me. There’s a place for anger, I suppose, but it’s not something I appreciate in my music.
I’ve learned to appreciate some metal, but I grew up with folk music and am most at home with softer, more acoustic sounds.
Ben, so I want to get this right, you would classify folk music as soft rock? I wouldn’t. I’ve always thought of soft rock as something you’d get from, say, Neil Diamond, Dionne Warwick, or some of the Eagles songs. Personally, I think rock should, well, rock.
