My organization system is kinda hodge-podge. For the most part, I sort by genre. Most of science fiction books are together, and mysteries, and math books, and so on.
However, there are some major authors that I keep together regardless of genre. Asimov books, for example, I have grouped together no matter what the subject matter happens to be.
Also, in many cases, I keep the books I have read in a different place from the books to be read.
