Where do you get your news?
Primarily, I get mine from comedy shows.
I know that sounds bad, but I’ll suggest that Jon Stewart of the Daily Show is one of the most incisive critics around, and John Oliver of Last Week Tonight does a remarkable job of explaining issues and drawing attention to otherwise boring or overlooked problems.
And while it just started a few weeks ago, I’m really enjoying the US version of Have I Got News For You, which is hosted by Roy Wood, Jr (with Amber Ruffin and Michael Ian Black) and airs weekly on CNN.
I get my news from newspapers (The New York Times, Star-Tribune, The Minnesota Reformer, MinnPost), periodicals (The Atlantic and Foreign Affairs), and late-night comedy shows (primarily Seth Meyers).
Comedy shows are definitely one major source (love Oliver’s in-depth reports), but also The Atlantic, the r/news and r/worldnews Reddits (though not without serious scrutiny of the sources), and finally the one I trust most, NPR (and local public radio GBH and BUR).
