Easy one for me: atheist. I’ve been an atheist for decades now, and nothing I’ve seen or read in the intervening years has moved me from that position even a little bit.
I was raised as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses but became an agnostic at around age 16. Around age 20, I started a study of the Bible, looking to either prove or disprove the existence of a creator.
Three years of study of the scriptures, the theory of evolution and world history convinced me that not only was there a creator, but He deserved my worship.
I married a Catholic in 1967 and formally joined the church about 10 years later. I’ve been active in the church ever since. I don’t have words to express how, despite frequent doubts, I value my faith communities in Eden Prairie, and my relationship with Jesus.
I believe in God, but not in the image of man. But, instead the total of everything known and unknown in the universe, everything we have discovered through science and everything we endeavor to learn.
