  1. I belong to two discussion groups. The first is called Complexity and Coffee, an open dialogue circle that addresses contested ideas. The goal is to have an engaging conversation, not necessarily to reach a resolution. The second group is aptly named the Socratic Circle. We come together with a topic and pre-set questions. You share your idea if you’re prepared to defend it.

    I also belong to Humanist Minnesota, a secular community that promotes ethical living, widespread human flourishing, and a healthy planet through its commitment to science, reason, compassion, and creativity.

  2. I don’t belong to any official organizations, ones that might make business cards or have regular meetings. But I am part of a few unofficial groups that get together occasionally to play games. And there are a few online groups, which seem even more informal.
