This is just an estimate, but if I include my MacBook Pro and my television, I bet I average at least 5 hours of screen time each day. I use my iPhone, but not nearly as much as most people.
At my job, we use a computer for inventory management and the check-out process, so I spend a fair amount of time at a screen (which I imagine is true for many people). I also watch a lot of TV, and play online games. I’d guess maybe four or five hours a day, typically.
I’m on a screen most of each day. When I was a kid in the 60s, during the summer, it was a TV screen all day, almost every day, as I wasn’t supervised.
That changed to much less during middle and high school and through college, as they were pre-PC.
After that, every job has been computer related, and in the evenings I’d watch TV when not reading. So: on a screen basically all day.
Now, in retirement, I’m streaming most afternoons and evenings, and in the mornings I’m on Reddit or doing word puzzles (with breaks for exercise, gardening, cooking).
So, all-in-all, I’ve been a screen user all my life.
