I’m definitely a “keep it” guy, as my shelves of books, piles of CDs, and boxes of comics can attest. I’ll have to start downsizing at some point, but I’m not there yet.
Rebecca and I follow two rules about this topic. First, if something comes into our house, something must leave. While the disposal or donation doesn’t need to happen immediately, we regularly purge items from our home. Second, no one’s going to want our belongings when we downsize or die. This already has me thinking about what I want to keep in the future. These two rules help us achieve another goal. Neither of us likes clutter in our home.
