5 thoughts on “How Many Countries Have You Visited?”

  1. Other than travel in the United States, I’ve visited 14 countries: Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain.

Some trips were with Rebecca, while others were solo vacations. When we traveled together, my favorite destinations have been the Greek islands, closely followed by France and Portugal. Without a doubt, my favorite solo trip was when I drove about 1,000 miles around most of Iceland’s perimeter — the Ring Road and the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. I navigated the entire route, living each day out of and sleeping each night in a camper van, using municipal pools for exercise and showers to freshen up. I’ve never visited anywhere with as much geological beauty as Iceland.

  2. Besides Canada (multiple) and Mexico (once):

Switzerland, in the 60s (with a brief visit to Italy)

Bahamas, Bermuda, St Kitts, Aruba (which of these are owned by other countries? I can’t remember) — all in the 80s

Italy, Netherlands, Germany, Czechia, Austria, Croatia, France — all after 2010

That makes about 14. We plan to go to Portugal fairly soon, but haven’t decided any others yet. There’s a long list.
