One of our cats, Lettie, always has to be in the middle of whatever is happening, so we have given her the nickname of “The Supervisor”.
Marsha had named her previous car “Myrtle”, but she hasn’t picked out a nickname for her new car just yet.
Marsha and I use affectionate nicknames for each other, most commonly “sweetie”.
There are many, many other examples.
Luca, our middle-aged pup, has many nicknames. I use Mr. Barky-Bark most often.
My cats tend to generate nicknames. Tigress (which started out as a nickname for a kitten I’d planned to give away, but she had other ideas) answers just as easily to Girlet. Solo’s latest nickname is Dr. Teeth, for his habit of eating my fingers at 1 a.m.
