I’ve tried meditation several times. And while it relaxes me physically, I’ve never been able to quiet and focus my brain.
I used an app called Headspace back in 2015 to learn a very basic practice. Sitting still, noticing what my each of my senses are experiencing, and then closing the eyes to bring awareness inward to my breath for a few minutes, I definitely experience a state shift: steadiness, peace, openness, connection. And yet… I resist meditating with any regularity. Your question makes me wonder: given how a brief meditation enhances my sense of connectedness, why do I so rarely do it? I’ll think about that….
While I have tried meditation off and on over the years, I’ve never been able to get any noticeable benefits.
Recently, I’m trying to become comfortable with doing nothing rather than maximizing every moment, which is a sort of meditation, I suppose.
My meditation is simply focusing on taking 20 to 30 very deep breaths two times a day.
