Although memory and intelligence are different abilities, they’re closely connected. If I had to choose one to have in abundance, I’d pick memory. Honestly, I’d probably trade a bit of my current intelligence for a much stronger memory. Being able to retain and recall conversations, books, experiences, and the countless details that make up everyday life would enrich both my work and my relationships, and it would give my mind far more material to think with.
It sure would be nice to have a crystal clear memory of the things that have happened to you. But being able to think intelligently about any situation seems pretty great too.
I think for this one I’d choose intelligence, even if it means I can’t remember my choice.
