Alone Or Together?
Asking — and answering — life's interesting questions

It completely depends on what I’m doing, but, for most things, I prefer to have a partner in crime
What are some examples of each? Are there any patterns to things you prefer to do together vs alone?
If I’m going out in public, I prefer to be with another person, usually my husband.
I like to have my family join me when working on projects around the house because “many hands make light work”.
The kitchen is the exception. I prefer to do prepping, cooking, processing and canning alone. Probably because when I get into these processes I essentially go into autopilot and having someone else there can throw off my groove.
I don’t like groups AT ALL! A few people that I know really well, I can handle, but that’s it.
I say together, but in small groups, not large. That’s the introvert in me speaking. I love small group discussions, small team tasks, a few people strategizing together on how to create change.
Wholly dependent on what I need/want to do. For cleaning, love someone with me to help organize and make me throw stuff out! Enjoyed large concerts in the past, but not now. Love small working groups, but can enjoy larger ones also if the facilitator and topic is good. Enjoy family gatherings. Love to spend time with a good friend or a few good friends a few times a month, and at home, being just with me and my pup is hunky dory!
Today at Mass we heard the story of the prodigal son. (Luke Ch. 15) He thought he could go it alone, and it didn’t work out for him. Often I make the same mistake, and forget to ask for help. Looking back on my life, things have worked better when I was part of a team, with God in charge. I believe, like Solomon, “Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain.” (Psalm 127:1)
