  1. My pick for the most fun legislative campaign (as well as a watershed moment for Minnesota’s affordable housing advocacy) was the successful effort to get $100 million in state bonds for affordable housing (2014). This is followed closely by the successful 2010 effort to pass significant portions of the 2010 Minnesota Tenants’ Bill of Rights.

The successful Minnesota efforts regarding the freedom to marry were incredibly moving to me. I am proud to have played a small role in the campaigns.

My picks for the top ten songs of the last decade are (in alphabetical order):
    – The Big Unknown, Sade
    – Emmylou, First Aid Kit
    – Future Shock, Sims
    – Lightning, Guante + The Big Cats! W/ Chastity Brown
    – Love Is Blindness, Jack White covers u2
    – Mineshaft 2, Dessa
    – The Mother We Share, by CHVRCHES
    – Nina Cried Power, Hozier w/ Mavis Staples
    – The Trapper and the Furrier, Regina Spektor
    – Your Best American Girl, Mitski

I’m into crime/spy dramas/comedies. The Americans and Breaking Bad top my list, with honorable mentions going to Better Call Saul, Broadchurch, the first two seasons of Fargo, and Killing Eve (season 1 is all I’ve seen thus far). As for other streaming TV, Black Mirror, Fleabag, the Handmaid’s Tale, Mad Men, and the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel are all great. The Good Place was (is?) great broadcast TV.

In the world of science, I thrived on any new theories/discoveries related to the Big Bang and the time that (relatively) soon followed. And while not happy content, I paid close attention to as much new information about climate change — where it’s headed and what we can do about it.
