I really struggled with this one, because it is the combination of the two that make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich so satisfying. But ultimately, my sweet tooth led me to vote jelly.
Hmmm. I like peanut butter on whole grain toast, but…. I like jam/jelly on English muffins.
I use peanut butter outside of PB+J’s more often and am really picky about jam/jelly (I only like homemade and haven’t bought store jam/jelly in 20+ years).
I think I’d have to go with peanut butter for it’s usability in many dishes
When I’m hungry, and I need something to tide me until the next meal, I take out a jar of peanut butter and eat a couple of teaspoons full. While jelly or jam has its place, peanut butter is definitely superior.
Peanut butter is peanut butter, but there are so many different kinds of jelly!
