This is going to sound selfish, but I rarely bring food to a potluck.
At every potluck I’ve ever gone to, there is so much food, the host is reminding people — or even begging them — to take food home with them. Some leftovers even get thrown out if they are left behind and the host doesn’t like/cannot eat them. So why should I add to that stockpile of food?
Now admittedly, if everyone were to do what I do, there would be no food at all, and that would be most unfortunate. Then I would start bringing a dish to share.
It’s not that I don’t want to share food, I just hate seeing food go to waste. I have no desire to contribute to that problem.
