Time. I waste time more than anything… but my brain really enjoys the puzzle of certain solitaire games, so… poof! there goes another hour.
I was tempted to say time as well. But then I thought that the concept of “productive” time is so difficult to measure, so I ultimately changed my mind.
If you enjoy playing games, then is it really a waste of time? How can it be a waste of time to do something you enjoy?
And what one person finds a waste, another might not. Someone might think, for example, that I waste a lot of time reading. To me, that’s not a waste of time, but to them it might be.
With that said, I am often amazed at the amount of time that passes between when I decide to do something, and actually doing it. I decide I’m going to eat breakfast, and 15 minutes later I actually make it to the kitchen. What happened to that 15 minutes?
Paper towels. Get the dish rag or a mop, Mr. Dahl!
I’m going to say water. I usually wash my dishes by hand (which I’m told tends to use more water), and I like taking long showers. And, of course, with the pandemic, along with everyone else I have increased the frequency and duration of my hand-washing.
Gas for hot water. It is available 24/7 but I only use hot water occasionally.
Electricity. I tend to forget to turn off lights and appliances.
