When meeting someone — possibly for the first time — are you more likely to make small talk, or leap right in to a serious conversation?

As an introvert, I need either small talk or the ability to sink into a conversation. I just wish the subjects of small talk would be a bit more interesting. Sure, we talk about the weather, but perhaps, instead, it could be the most interesting thing you’ve read in the past week. Or rather than answering “How are you doing?” with a bit of a lie, we could share something that we’re looking forward to in the next day or two.
I not a fan of small talk. Our time is limited!
Too much small talk can be boring to me, but a bit of small talk is a good precursor for getting down to business or breaking the ice in a crowd.
