I was about 10 years old when my Girl Scout troop went camping at the local campground. It rained in the night and there were some holes in the tent, and we woke up in soggy ground, cold and somewhat wet. That caused a major rift between me and camping. Now I stay indoors.
I’ve never been someone who enjoys camping a lot. And then, one day, I took a hike through the woods. Later that evening, my dad saw a tick crawling into my ear. (We got it out with hydrogen peroxide before I could bite or draw blood.) Now, I have no desire to go camping.
