For the most part, I’m okay with taxes. Sometimes, I get frustrated that tax dollars are going toward things that I don’t approve of, but then I think about the fact that someone, somewhere, doesn’t approve of tax dollars being spent on something that I think is important. There doesn’t seem to be any feasible way to be able to choose these things on an individual level.
I like living in a society, and there is no way that society could function without taxes. We can argue about the exact amounts that each person pays and what it gets spent on, but this statement is always true.

My city taxes partially ensure inspections of everything from food safety to building stability. My state taxes contribute to the construction of affordable housing and fund school breakfast and lunch programs. My federal taxes support mental health services and Medicaid and Medicare.
Yes. Taxes sometimes fund things I disagree with. However, those issues can be resolved at the ballot box. Overall, I am happy to pay taxes to support the city, state, and nation I love.
