I’m very firmly in Gen X, which I think, by and large, is a very self-sufficent generation (all comments about generations are, of course, generalized and may not apply to specific individuals within that generation). This makes sense because many Gen X kids were expected to take care of themselves from a very early age if both parents worked.

    One of the more striking aspects of younger generations — ones that grew up with access to the Internet — is the lack of social interaction. We see it now as a “loneliness epidemic” with ever increasing numbers of people feeling isolated.
